Climate Emergency

7:00pmMonday

7:00pmMonday

The UN Climate Conference COP26 was due to be held in Glasgow in November. COP26 is crucial if we are to strengthen our global climate agreements and stem the rise in atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gases.  We knew that there would be many events organised both in the run-up to that conference and during it. We wanted to contribute to that. Since then COP26 has had to be postponed till 2021. As we construct a route out of this pandemic emergency, we may well find that it points to valuable parallels in what we need to do to construct a route out of our climate emergency. Not least, global cooperation and a change in the direction of our national economies. Covid19 is at least diminishing but has not gone away. Far from diminishing, The Climate Emergency is increasing in its impacts on our common home, the Earth.

Estonia – A Model for an Independent Scotland?

This week we interviewed Iain Lawson who was Estonian Honorary Consul to Scotland for 15 years. His connection with Estonia all started when he went over to Tallin with the Tartan Army in early 1990s but that’s another story.
